Poker is a game of chance that is played with a deck of cards. Each player is dealt two cards, and if their hand is good enough, they can win the pot.<\/p>\n
The goal is to form the best five-card hand possible. For example, an Aces Up hand beats a straight flush, and a 6-4-3-2-A beats a king-high.<\/p>\n
There are three phases to a typical poker game: the draw, the betting, and the fold. During the draw, the players are given the opportunity to make a bet, which is usually the simplest. If the player does not make a bet, the hand is said to “stand pat.”<\/p>\n
The drawing phase is interrupted for the betting interval. This is where the ante is placed into the pot. In most games, it is either $1 or $5. During the betting interval, the first bettor must bet the minimum.<\/p>\n
After the betting interval, the dealer deals cards to each player in turn. Cards are usually dealt face up. Some games deal cards face down.<\/p>\n
The card that represents the best poker hand is a “kicker.” It can be any one of a few different cards. Jokers are often used as wild cards.<\/p>\n
The ace is often considered the lowest card. Two of them in sequence create a pair. But in some games, the ace is regarded as the highest card.<\/p>\n
